How to use the Calculator

Usage for TV is measured in TVRs whilst usage for Video on Demand (VoD), Internet (Online Display and Social Media) and Out of Home (OOH) is measured in millions of Impressions. An Impression is simply one view, once and is the standard currency for Digital media.

Ask for TVRs and Impressions.
Ask the engager to give you the number of TVRs and Impressions for your ad campaign. This information will be on a media plan. A media plan shows what media has been purchased e.g. spots on TV and ad space on the internet. All media for ads is bought and levels are known.

If you do not have access to TVRs or Impressions for your campaign, use the amounts for an average ad campaign as shown above. These averages have been researched and assessed by our media experts as typical campaign averages to serve as a guide.

Online Display and Social Media.
These are typically split out on a media plan. If however you are simply provided with a single 'Internet' figure that also includes Social (such as YouTube, X or TikTok), we suggest you split the total across Online Display and Social Media in the tool.

International.
The international boxes give a multiplier which relate to the value of advertising compared to the UK, based on UK as an index of 100. The international figures are based on both population and GDP per country. The international calculator will replicate the media ticked in the UK, i.e. for a campaign for UK and Sweden simply tick the Sweden box in the International drop down and a Usefee for Sweden is generated. Where you do not have the TVRs or Impressions, tick averages for the chosen media, then go to International and tick Sweden.
